About the talk.

A clinical update for practising GI clinicians on managing the spectrum of gastric acid–related disorders, covering GERD with and without erosive disease, peptic ulcer disease, and the cohort of patients in whom long-term PPI therapy raises legitimate questions about deprescription.

The talk covered:

  • The current evidence base for potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs) in refractory GERD.
  • A pragmatic deprescription pathway for stable patients on long-term PPI therapy.
  • Diagnostic workup for the patient with persistent symptoms despite adequate acid suppression.
  • An honest discussion of the limits of pharmacotherapy in functional and overlap syndromes.
